This necklace is made from real vintage Mercury dimes from the 1940s. They’re made of silver, so they’re the perfect coins to make into jewelry. I soldered a sterling bail to the coin, and strung it from a fine 16” curb chain.
Mercury dimes were part of regular circulation back in the day, with a picture of Lady Liberty on the front. People confused her image for the Roman god Mercury, thus the name Mercury Dime stuck.
